Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.
Reporting
Any person who believes they have been aggrieved by discrimination prohibited by Title VI is encouraged to submit a complaint.
If you've experienced discrimination based on race, color, religion, or national origin while at Temple, below is information on how to report your experience. Please be aware that the term 'national origin' may include a person's birthplace, culture, language, or their actual or perceived ancestry and/or ethnic characteristics
Equal Opportunity Compliance serves as a focal point of Temple's institution-wide efforts for equal opportunity, equal access, and affirmative action, providing direction through information, assistance, and complaint investigation for those who have experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
To contact an EO Ombudspersons, please find contact information for your school’s EO Ombudsperson listed here, or contact a representative of the Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance.
Conflicts can sometimes be easier to resolve in an informal atmosphere in which people can identify an issue, talk it out and agree on how to deal with it. Any person who believes that they have experienced discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation can make an informal complaint to any Equal Opportunity (EO) Ombudsperson. An Ombudsperson is simply an Official who investigates complaints. In many instances, informal discussion, counseling and mediation can be useful in resolving perceived instances of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation.
Members of the university community who believe that they are victims of discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation also may bring a formal administrative complaint by filing a written complaint directly with the University's Equal Opportunity Compliance.
You have the option to make an inquiry or report anonymously through the Ethics and Compliance Helpline. Helpline operators will deliver your report directly to Temple’s Ethics and Compliance Office and will maintain your anonymity, if that is your preference.
